My passion is to help people to live their lives to the full. I have been involved in people development throughout my career. As a community youth worker, I worked closely with adolescents, their parents and vulnerable youth. I offered counselling as well as various programmes and events to support youth with the various life skills they needed, as well as a supportive and safe community space. I then moved into more of a business sphere working for the Association of African Business Schools (AABS) facilitating quality management education across Africa by working with African Business Schools across the continent. I have vast experience in non-profit organisations and am the founder and CEO of BizSchool, a Non Profit Corporation that assists youth in the transition from school to work thereby reducing youth unemployment in South Africa.
I received my BA Psychology as well as my Honours in Psychology from Rand Academic University now the University of Johannesburg and a psychodynamic training from WITS where I completed my Masters In Educational Psychology (Cum Laude). My internship was completed at The Family Life Centre in Parkwood, where I added many additional cognitive, gestalt, as well as narrative therapy tools to my toolbox forming more of an eclectic approach with a psychodynamic underpinning. I truly believe the mind, body, spirit connection is intrinsic to our personal growth, healing and happiness, therefore I work with a holistic approach to therapy.
In my training to become an educational psychologist, I received extensive counselling, coaching and mediation experience, and I believe my life experiences, as well as my training, have given me a particular passion and gift for working with adolescents and their parents, as well as couples and individuals in therapy. I thoroughly enjoy play therapy with the age 4 - 12 age group and working with parents to try and help their children reach their full potential whether through play therapy, assessments, family therapy or parental guidance.
I completed the mediation course whilst at The Family Life Centre and I am a qualified divorce mediator. Ending a marriage is always traumatic for all parties, but I believe mediation helps end the marriage in the least damaging and most constructive way, especially for the children of divorcing parents.
I love living life to the full and experiencing fully whatever life brings. I find it a privilege to journey alongside others as a therapist in their journey through life.
